When is the pocket format attractive?
The Atlas Black takes up relatively little room and suits a shortlist for occasional utility cuts. Its non-locking mechanism is an important choice, not a small footnote. Handle it according to its instructions and do not assume behavior associated with the separately named Atlas Backlock.
Try the opening action and handle size before relying on a knife for repeated tasks. Convenience in a pocket and comfort through a long session are different requirements.
How do the fixed blades differ?
The Packlite N690 removes conventional handle scales in favor of a skeleton format, while the Walnut Drop keeps walnut scales and comes with a leather sheath. The skeleton keeps the Packlite compact, but whether it is comfortable depends on the hand and the task. Compare the grip and sheath as carefully as the blade.
The manufacturer describes different blade materials: N690 for the selected Packlite and 440A for this Walnut Drop. A steel name does not establish measured cutting performance by itself; blade geometry and maintenance also matter. We have not tested these edges or sheaths.

The Outdoor Cuisine III is shaped around preparing an outdoor meal. Its broad folding blade offers a different working shape from the small Atlas. Folding saves packing space, while introducing a pivot and lock area that need attention during cleaning. Pack and store the tool securely, and keep food-contact surfaces clean.
